Physical Fitness: An investment in a new, healthier life

Our definition of physical fitness is the body’s ability to function with sufficient energy to engage in everyday activities; handle physical, mental, and emotional stresses; and participate your recreation of choice. Some of the signs of fitness are cardio-respiratory health, alertness, muscular strength, and endurance.

At Benchmark Recovery Center we offer an up-to-date fitness center where our residents, according to their ability, can learn to use the exercise equipment or resume previous levels of training.

Supervised workouts in our on-site gym

All workouts are supervised by certified personal trainer, Dean Mosmeyer of ATX Personal Fitness. We help our residents set individual goals for their workouts and physical lifestyle.

For some of our residents, moderate activity will be adequate to reduce and alleviate ordinary daily stress. However, for those who desire to improve their fitness level, a more intensive exercise program is designed, based on the principle that overloading the physiological systems promotes change.

Practice Yoga with a certified and registered Yoga instructor

Benchmark Recovery center also offers Yoga classes by certified and registered Yoga teacher, Brandy Arena (Bea), RYT of Bea Love Yoga. Bea honors the ancient practice of yoking the mind’s intent to the body in order to fully live with greater balance, harmony and ease. Bea’s gentle instruction encourages and inspires residents to encounter their own unique joy and fulfillment in yoga practice as well as grow in the wisdom of practice as service to one’s self and the world.

Valuable attention to nutrition and self-care

Our fitness objective that we impart to our residents is the attainment and maintenance of physical fitness, coupled with nutritious diet and reasonable rest patterns. It is our time-proven belief that successful addiction recovery requires dedication to a systematic, long-term proactive approach to physical fitness and overall health.
